Fossil Sport Tourer -- a new collection of fine chronographs

Let’s talk about new pieces before we go into some collector nerdiness.
The Sport Tourer collection launches officially on February 15 with 5 colorways that feature either a stainless-steel bracelet, leather straps or silicone strap.
All cases sizes for this initial launch are 42mm with a 22mm strap/bracelet. Prices in USD range $195-$220. Searching for movement information and came up empty handed, but Fossil does say it’s a Japanese center second chronograph movement and wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a Miyota movement as used before by Fossil and many, many others.
Model numbers are as follows - FS6043 for the cream dial with the perforated strap, FS6044 for the yellow dial, FS6045 for the black dial with the white sub-dials. FS6047 blue dial and the FS6046 for the green dial. Pictured below with links to the Fossil site to read more.
At first glance we’re leaning towards a FS6044 for our first Sport Tourer purchase – because let’s be honest some of the yellow dial Speedways from the late 90’s/early 2000’s are amongst our favorites. Coming in at a close second and our Facebook group confirms this – the cream dial with the leather strap is not far behind – love that drive theme!
You may be thinking; these pieces look familiar. There are lots of chronographs out there and lately the trend is racing/driving themes, which is great for collectors like me, who happened to love cars too. Some of the most memorable chronographs of Fossil past are the Fossil Speedway and Fossil Defenders and while not an exact copy of the Sport Tourer series, these older models including the Compass series of watches from the 2010’s all seem to welcome Sport Tourer to the family. The nods to heritage of previous designs is one of the things we like about Fossil. Keep it up!!!

a new year and a new post
I need to confess my sins to everyone. It's been a year since my last post and I can't believe it - I'm horrible! My hobby hasn't changed and neither has my pursuit of collecting Fossil watches and corporate swag. I bought more watches in 2013 than any other year (don't tell my wife), but in the same breath 2013 was the busiest year of my professional career. I travelled all over the world and as glamorous as it sounds, it's a lot of work and prepartion before the fact. 2014 proves to be a better year for work/life balance and I'm already working on some changes to this site for 2014 -- it's on my goals for 2014, so it will get done!
Happy New Year to all. Here's some of my thoughts for site in 2014.
- I'm working on a new site design a new domain registrar. The URL will stay the same, but the look and feel will be changed. I've already upgraded Squarespace to the new platform and working on the bugs with the migration from their 5 platform to 6. So far I am not happy with the template selection and not savvy enough to make it look "vintage".
- Looking at ways to make the site more interactive. I've met some greater Fossil nuts than me on this journey and I want to give them the opportunity to post and/or share their knowledge -- right now the posts are limited to me (I apologize).
- I'm toying with removing the forum and just forcing everyone to use Facebook.
- If you aren't on the Facebook page, please join -- I'm much more active on there and so are you!
- Open to suggestions from anyone!
- The majority of the web traffic to this site is people looking for Fossil Defender. I have plenty more Defenders to post, but I'm going to remove the prices off of the Defender guide. The prices on eBay are awfully high lately and I shutter to think it's my fault.

A Happy Ending With A Fossil Speedway
One of the series that I haven't talked about on the site before is Fossil Speedway. I don't know many details on this series, but I'm working on it. All I know is there is a few standouts that I've been looking for and I finally bagged one. I also had a Fossil Speedway t'shirt in college, bonus points?
A few weeks ago I picked up this gem on eBay for $20. It was listed just as a Fossil men's watch, no mention of Speedway, obviously it's a bit scratched, needed a battery and the band had to go. I've seen similar models (FS-2899 and FS-2900) all cleaned up with the correct metal band sell for $50 and I've almost bought them before on eBay, but $50 is steep.
Took the watch with me on vacation last week in hopes of finding a replacement band for it at the Fossil outlet store. On the long drive home we stopped at the Fossil Outlet store in Jeffersonville, Ohio looking for a band. I asked the guy at the counter if they sold replacement bands and to my surprise he opened a drawer full of official Fossil replacement bands! So for all those posts about replacement bands, check out your local Fossil store, not sure if the main stores carry them or if it's only the outlet -- either way for $13.50 I got a new dark brown leather band for my previously loved Fossil Speedway FS-2900. Employees at the store put the new band on, I brought the watch home and cleaned up some of the scratches with Brasso and here it is.

Fossil Defender watches were marketed as a top of the line watch styled in classic 1940's style. These watches were available from what I remember in about 1995. It's another truly retro series that only Fossil could pull off. These watches were inspired by the design of a 1940's airplane cockpit and in my opinion are a better representation of the era than Fossil's latest attempts of doing vintage aviation.

Newest watch - CH2565
This is the watch I wanted for Christmas 2009, but it was unavailable on the Fossil site, well it was there, but not in stock so I put it on my wish list and shortly thereafter it disappeared from the site altogether.
The watch business must be unreal because this is not the first time this has happened. These watches need to be online for at least a few months for people to see them and start coming up with the money or special occasions.
I mentioned this to my wife and a quick search on eBay later she had bought me a brand new one for $79 and free shipping - it even came with the tin. Happy Valentines Day to me. I really love this watch, it looks solid and the tan & wood dial really set it off.
